WHEN HEAVEN STOOD STILL

WHEN HEAVEN STOOD STILL
By: Tyararr J. Jones
In the silence of the day while on the Cross He hang,
Abrupt chants of hate from the people sang.
Scarce drops of peace hard to find in the crowd of anger,
Christians wandering about trying to hide from the danger.
Onlookers waiting for Jesus to deliver himself from this shame,
While reflecting on the cries of mockery from those who were to blame.
From light to darkness and the shaking of the ground,
Joy is fleeting and striving to be found.
For a moment, Heaven is silent as the Father's will is done,
Angels armed with sword surrounding God the Son.
As Jesus hung on the Cross wearing sin that was not His own,
Hope was brought to the high and mighty, to the poor and unknown.
All in an instant, Christ Jesus my King,
Silenced sin's voice and quenched death's sting.
His arms stretched wide with grace and with love,
Fulfilling his Father's will who looked down from above.
Laid to rest in a tomb made by man,
Carrying out what was prepared in His master plan.
From death to life as He arose from the grave,
Spreading forth his message to seek and to save.
Jesus Christ is my Savior and He is my Lord,
We must press on and follow His Word.
