WHISPERS AT THE CROSS

WHISPERS AT THE CROSS
By: Tyararr J. Jones
The ponderings of my heart lost in the silence of the day,
Striving for clarity in the things I want to say.
O God, in the midst of storm help me not from you stray,
Please hear my whispers as I kneel and pray.
You are Strength, I am weak.
You are Master, I am servant.
You are Father, I am child.
You are Wisdom, I am foolish.
You are the Rock, I strive for stability.
You are Savior, I am sinner.
You are Immutable, You are changing me.
You are Love, I am still learning to love.
You are Peace, I am pushing away confusion.
You are Faithful, I am forever finding my ground.
You are Holy, I am humbling trying.
You are Forgiving, I am fretful.
You are King, I worship You.
You are my Refuge, I am safe in You.
You are Worthy, I praise You.
You are the Shepherd, I follow You.
You are the Light of the world, help me shine for You.
You are Life, help me live for You.
You are Hope, I will trust in You.
You took my place, I am bound to You.

FROM THE BRUSH TO ITS CANVAS

FROM THE BRUSH
TO ITS CANVAS
By: Tyararr J. Jones
Released from the silence of closed thoughts, my words ring in the ears of young minds of hidden potential.
From the first day of presentation, through the year of daily anticipation of diligent instruction....
The whispers of carpeted walls echoes the chant of...details! details! details!
Front row murmurings of questions that bring expressions of vast disguises,
The owner of these questions so eager for such evident answers.
I smile with inward and outward emotion due to the variety of pondering minds that sit before me daily.
Daily I seek to brush upon cognitive canvas: dsicipline, discernment, diligence, devotion, and determination.
Twenty-two canvases of impressionable thought, a responsibility that drains me daily of possible consequence.
To whom do I speak, to whom does this beckoning of openness belong?
It is to you my 9th grade pupils of beautiful minds and endless potential.
The prodding, the stretching, the pushing of extreme excellence that I demand is only for your future good.
At times, I know that you feel the pressure of deadlines and responsibilities to which you have never experienced.
The things that push you beyond your limits will make you stronger and give you mental endurance for later academic requirement.
Today, I recognize the diligence of those who have been hard working students.
I also take notice to those who have taken little steps toward the potential they seek to run from daily.
The paint which I seek to apply to the canvas of your minds is this:
Think before you speak.
Think before you act.
Be not afraid of the things that challenge you, embrace the trials you face as opportunitites to see God mold and shape you more into His image.
Conduct yourself in a manner that does not take away from your testimony or reputation but reflects who you truly serve.
Enjoy your youth, enjoy each other and enjoy the life God has given you; for the past cannot be replayed.
